Flame Con is intended for everyone regardless of sex, gender, race, ethnicity, religion, orientation, gender expression, ability, or age.

Who created Flame Con?

Flame Con is a venture of Geeks OUT, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit whose mission is to rally, empower and promote the queer geek community. You can email Geeks OUT at info@geeksout.org.

Is Flame Con at the same place this year as last year?

No. We have moved from Brooklyn to Manhattan this year. We are located at the Sheraton New York Hotel in Times Square.

Can children attend?

Yes. Flame Con is a family friendly environment. While some contributors may have mature materials, all public facing materials are kept at most, PG-13. Sunday is also our youth day, where any attendee under 21 may attend Flame Con free of charge.

Can my child go unchaperoned?

That is up to you. While Flame Con is family-friendly, you would be best qualified to tell if your child is mature enough to attend alone or in a group. For example, would they be allowed to go to the mall alone? All attendees, including minors, are subject to Flame Con policies, venue rules, and laws.

Do you accomadate those with disabilities?

Yes. We do our best to make sure Flame Con is accessible. Those with disabilities may be allowed priority access to panels and performances, as long as the line has not been capped due to capacity.

Is there any type of party?

Yes. Flame Con has an exciting tradition of hosting a fabulous 21+ party showcasing geeky drag, burlesque, gymnastic and musical performances.

Can I bring a prop firearm for cosplay purposes?

No. Per our weapons policy, Flame Con is a gun free zone. Any prop firearm, regardless of how unrealistic you may think it appears, must be checked for the duration of your attendance. Items like Ghostbuster proton packs, and Harry Potter wands are allowed; if you are unsure about your prop, feel free to contact us.

Can I cosplay as a character I love?

Of course, we encourage our attendees to come as their beloved favorites. Just remember that no prop firearms are allowed  per our weapons policy. We also encourage mindfulness when creating cosplay to avoid insensitivity. Finally, we remind all attendees that cosplay is not consent; you must respect personal space, and you should ask before you snap a photo.

Can I buy tickets at the door?

Yes, pending availability. However, tickets purchased at the door will be more expensive.
